Geneva

A lovely ruby-red fruit. Its red flesh makes it a must for cider makers seeking to produce a rosé cider.
Galarina®
The Galarina is hardier than the Gala and is classified as scab resistant. Medium vigour. Blossoms at the same time as the McIntosh. The fruit is medium in size and ripens at the same time as the Cortland, in early October. The colour varies from deep red on the sunny side to red-orange on the […]
Gala “Royal”

A strain of Gala with paler, more striated colouring. Although it is less visually striking, it does not compromise on taste.
Gala “Mitch”

Originally from New Zealand, the Gala and its various strains have been a tremendous success with consumers. It is crisp, attractive and aromatic, with non-browning flesh that is perfect for salads or sliced apple snacks. The Gala is renowned worldwide. Widely produced in the United States and Chile, it is less frequently grown in Quebec […]
Freedom
The Freedom’s main quality is its resistance to several diseases, including apple scab, powdery mildew, bull’s eye rot and fire blight. The almost crunchy fruit with a rather unbalanced flavour is harvested at the end of September. The tree is hardy and vigorous. A good pollinating variety.
Empire

A cross between Red Delicious and McIntosh, the Empire is a favourite among Quebecers. With its dark red, almost purple colour, medium size and crisp flesh, the sweet, juicy Empire is a solid choice for a well-located orchard. However, the tree is neither vigorous nor very hardy, and will produce small fruits if subjected to […]
AAC Eden

An acidic variety with non-browning flesh. From the Canadian research program. Because the apple remains attached to the tree well into the winter, it is often used for cider production, particularly ice cider.
Dolgo

A large red crabapple that can verge on violet. Matures in late August.
AAC Diva
A very hardy, scab-resistant variety. It is a hybrid from the Canadian research program. Produces a red fruit. The flavour is mild, but the thick skin of the fruit can be annoying in the mouth. The tree is vigorous and performs well in Quebec.
Delbarestival
Ripens in the last week of August. More acidic than Delcorf. Red overlay on 25 to 50% of the greenish-yellow background, sometimes streaked. Tends to biennial bearing.
